Former captain had nine goals and 38 assists for 47 points last season
KENT, July 17, 2018 — Seattle Thunderbirds vice president of hockey operations Russ Farwell today announced former captain Turner Ottenbreit has signed with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League for the 2018-19 season.
The Eagles are the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
“It is exciting to see Turner get his chance at the pro level,” said Farwell. “He developed into a dominant player in our league and his leadership is a great addition to the Eagles. We wish him the best of luck.”
“It’s great to see Turner rewarded for his hard work and perseverance,” said head coach Matt O’Dette. “He exemplified what being a T-Bird is all about. I believe those qualities will propel him to a successful professional career.”
Ottenbreit, a defenseman, was the captain of the T-Birds last season and had nine goals and 38 assists for 47 points in 64 games. In four seasons with the T-Birds Ottenbreit appeared in 284 games and had 24 goals and 84 assists for 108 points with 338 penalty minutes.
“It’s a big honor. I’m very excited to be able to play pro hockey especially with a great organization,” said Ottenbreit. “My four years with the T-Birds helped get me to this stage and I couldn’t have done it without the support of the organization and our great fans.”
Ottenbreit had three goals and six assists in 20 games in the 2017 playoffs as the T-Birds won the WHL Championship.
