Shea Theodore Named To Hockey Canada U-18 Selection Camp

T-Birds defenseman had a goal in all three selection camp scrimmages

KENT, August 6, 2012 — Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced defenseman Shea Theodore has been named to Canada’s Summer Under-18 Team.

“This is an exciting achievement for Shea,” said Farwell. “To be included in the top 22 players in Canada is an honor and clearly serves notice that Shea will be pushing to be a high selection in next year’s NHL Draft. He is a very exciting offensive player and the best is yet to come as he gains strength and confidence.”

Hockey Canada invited 40 players to a three-day selection camp from August 3 to August 6 at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto. Theodore was one of 12 defensemen competing for a spot on the team.

The camp consisted of three Team Red and Team White Scrimmages. Theodore played for Team Red and had a goal in each of the three scrimmages.

The Under-18 team will play in the 2012 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament in Piestany, Slovakia, and Breclav, Czech Republic, from August 13 to August 18.

Hockey Canada invited 13 players from the WHL to the selection camp. Nine players from the WHL made the roster.

In his rookie season last year Theodore appeared in 69 games and had four goals and 31 assists for 35 points. Theodore was selected by the T-Birds in the third round, 64th overall, in the 2010 Bantam Draft.

T-Birds season tickets are currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds office at 253-239-7825.
